PITCH

The Media Review Pitch is an initial, written description of the topic for your Media Review.

As many of the communication theories we will study suggest, living in a media-saturated world has brought both challenges and opportunities to the practice of human communication. It is important to reflect upon these challenges and opportunities, as well as to be able to articulate them in a clear, professionally written style.

This assignment requires you to select a suitable piece of media to write about in an in-depth review. Examples of a suitable piece of media may include: 1) a typical feature length film at least ninety (90) minutes in length, 2) a television miniseries or a season of a television show, 3) a long form video game, 4) an album of music, or 5) another approved piece of media. This project will continue over the coming weeks as you research your chosen media, produce an initial draft of your review, offer peer feedback on your classmates’ drafts, and ultimately turn in your final reviews. At this stage, focus on selecting a piece of media and describing why you believe it to be a good candidate for review. To receive full credit for this assignment: 1) select a suitable piece of media, clearly post the name of it, and copy and paste a link to its website (for film and television an entry on IMDb.com will suffice), 2) describe why you believe the media to be a good candidate for review, and 3) respond with a meaningful comment on at least two (2) of your classmates’ posts by the deadline.

This assignment will be submitted in Desire2Learn in a format similar to the weekly Discussion Forums.
